Cruise ships speak to the imagination. A lot of people visit Zeebrugge when there is a ship berthed in the port. On this page you can find some useful information to photograph the ships great in a good way!
The biggest and most impressive cruise ships are most of the time berthed at the Swedish Quay. Ships that are docked here are in a perfect position for photographs. Next to the P. Vandammelock the port authority has built a view point from where you have a great sight on the Swedish Quay.
When the lock is closed (the blue bridges are down) you have the chanse to cross the lock over the bridges to have a better side view of the ships that is berthed there that moment.
This place is also recommended when you want to see the ship arrive or leave, as there you have a perfect view on the enterance of the port of Zeebrugge.
The smaller cruise ships are sometimes berthed at the Maritime station. A ships that is docked there is a bit more diffucult to photograph because of the port area.
The best way to spot the ships at the Maritime station if from the viewing point next to the Fischermen's Cross at the end of the Paardenmarktstraat. From there you have a view on the side of the ships that is docked there.
When it's a busy day and there is no space enough at the Zweedse Kaai cruise ships often berth at the Westerhoofd. At the old containerterminal of Container Handling Zeebrugge there is the possibility to facilitate cruise ships.
Personally I'm fan of this location, as you have a perfect view on the vessels from the Fischermen's Cross!
